Hawaii Act 104
Compliant & Reef Safe

PoolBar cares about our planet, so we made sure our mineral suncream was Hawaii Act 104 Compliant.

What does the Hawaii Act 104 Compliance mean?

Oxybenzone and octinoxate are two chemicals commonly found in suncreams and the suggestion is they are harmful to the coral reefs which support our ecomarine system and all the amazing sea life, so we decided to remove them from our formulas as we love our planet!

This act has also banned the sale of (non-prescription) suncreams containing oxybenzone and octinoxate which came into effect 1st January 2021. Some islands have also banned you from entering with “non compliant” mineral suncream, so if you are travelling to Hawaii make sure to take our mineral PoolBar suncare.

The Compliance Regulations

To date there is no mandated testing requirements or FDA compliance regulations to enforce these chemicals from being banned from suncreams, however we are super proud we took the decision to remove them anyway and tell you about it so you can make the right informed decision for you and your family when choosing your suncare.

What is Reef Safe?

You may be aware of the claim “Reef Safe” which means these two chemicals have also been removed from certain suncreams.
However we have chosen “not to make this claim” physically on our products as it hasn’t been conclusively proven yet and we do not want to mislead you.

We Promise

PoolBar will not only look after your skin and keep you protected with our glamorous suncare range, but we promise to do everything we can to look after our planet we share together too.
